Setting the Pace for the 2000 Roast
The Lieutenant Governors of the Bankers Club will host the 2000 Legendary Sports Celebrity Roast on November 14th. Roy Firestone of ESPN Up Close will serve as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. "When I got a call from the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, I said yes before I even knew what they wanted," Firestone commented, "I grew up in Miami Beach, graduated from the University of Miami, and I’ve watched the evolution of the Miami Project since its inception. I was devastated when Marc Buoniconti was hurt ... his Dad has been a big hero of mine for years."
"So it’s a thrill for me to come to Miami in support of a cause that matters to all of us, whether we know someone who is injured or not," he continued, "We have chance to put right an injustice, an unfair imprisonment of thousands of innocent people. Who wouldn’t say yes to that?"
The Roast will be presented by Smirnoff, the event’s title sponsor. For table and ticket information, please call (305) 243-2267. The Roast, now in its third year, has raised $355,000 for the research programs of the Miami Project.
